Pasir Ris Park is a favorite family weekend spot for many kinds of outdoor family activities such as picnicking, camping, BBQ, children playground, canoing, swimming, kite flying, in-line blading, cycling and other water sports. Pasir Ris Park is one of the largest coastal park in Singapore and lies in the eastern part with 71 hectares area including 6 hectares of mangrove swamp.

Pasir Ris means “Beach blot-rope” in Malay which imply a narrow beach. Its carefully preserved mangrove swamp is traversed by boardwalks which you and your family could find inhabitants of mangrove community such as mud crabs, mud-skippers, mangrove trees and other flora.

The Park had been developed to include modern facilities for family who come here for a good gatherings and enjoy the tranquility of the Park. A big groups of friends or family who sit on self-bring mats and enjoying their self-cooked food is not uncommon sight in this scenic park.

For people who love the sun and the sea, here is the ideal venue to enjoy many kinds of activities under the sun. There are free fitness stations, bicycle and skates rental kioks, canoe rental kiosk and nature walks available in the Park. Bird enthusiasts can also enjoy their bird-watching from the 3-storey high Bird Watching Tower located within the mangrove forest.

However, for my family and me, my favorite spot in this Park is the Children Playground. Why, you may ask? The Children Playground keeps my kids occupied with so many different kinds of play stations, keep them happy for hours while my wife and me could either join them or take a break at one of the many seating place under a shelter or under a quiet shady tree. No wonder it is a popular place for other parents as well as this place is busting with activities and laughter during weekends and school holidays.

There are so many different kind of play stations such as the “Flying Fox” which is my sons’ favorite. It is a cableways suspended by 2 big posts where your child could sit on a rubber seat gliding around 0.5m off the ground from one end to the other. Some of the play stations are quite innovative such as one which allows you to play drum and different kinds of musical instruments, there is also a small maze and even play areas for physical-challenged children. My son also loved to climb up the giant Sky net which is a good way to improve their motor and coordination skills.

Your child will definitely love this Big Playground and will spend hours of fun under the sun. You could relax under a tree enjoying the sea-breeze and your child’s laughter.

There is a restaurant by the beach where you could tuck into seafood and some western dishes along with the beautiful sea view. It is quite enjoyable to have a drink here watching the sunset and having good company. If you are not ready to go home, you could camp here in this park enjoying the serenity of the nature and the soothing sounds of the wave.
