On 8th August 2009, Singapore will celebrate its 44th birthday and there will be the usual National Parade celebrations.   However, something that is unique this year is that there will be nation-wide pledge taking moment at 8.22pm on the National Independence Day.

All Singaporean are urged to reaffirm their commitment to the nation with many individuals as well as organizations already gearing up for that.   Even fast food restaurants such KFC and McDonald have announced plans for their employees to take the pledge for Singapore at that moment.

This year there are also more ways to follow the National Day Parade (NDP) such as via Social Networks (Facebook and Twitter) and watch the Parade via the internet.

You can see the live webcast here and watch the youtube movies.

  2. Happy Birthday, though belated. I've never head of people taking a pledge, that is most interesting. A nice idea I think. I think we should do that here in the States.
