Shangri-la hotel (香格里拉大酒店)
Last month, my family spent a night in Shangri-la hotel (香格里拉大酒店) which is consistently ranked as one of the top luxury hotels in Asia and the world. It sits amid fifteen acres of luxuriant botanical gardens and is a short stroll from the main entertainment and shopping belt of Orchard Road. The reason why I choose to stay here is that it is away from the city noise but yet close to the most popular shopping belt of Singapore. I have not been shopping and wondering around Orchard for a long time and here is one of the perfect place to shop and stay. See the detail itinerary during my stay.
We stayed in the Garden Wing which is beautifully housed within a garden of more than with 133,000 individual plants, flowers and trees within fifteen acres of landscaped gardens. From the 1st floor, you can walked up the stairs dotted with plants and fish ponds leading you to the 3rd floor which is the main garden. The gardens are a showpiece of ornamental flowering trees, aquatic plants, vibrant tropical flowers and shady fruit trees. It is also home to two hundred Japanese koi, in luminous hues of red and gold, who reside in ponds filled by tumbling waterfalls.
The room is clean, modern and equip with all the facilities that a traveler would usually needs. My sons loved the electronic controlled curtains and blinds all controllable from the main control panel besides the bed.
We stayed in one of the 750 guest rooms facing the swimming pool. From the balcony, we can directly view the whole swimming pool which is really nice.
My kids love the swimming pool and we have spent quite some time having fun and games in the swimming pool. For me, it is time to have some sun tanning and just relaxing by the pool.
The Line
For buffet dinning, “The line” is one of the best restaurant in Singapore for its generous spread of food. There are so many items to choose from. For seafood lovers you will like the fresh supply of oysters, prawns and crabs. For Japanese food lovers, there is the wonderful Shashimi and shushi. For Indian Food, there are the Tandori, naan, prata, satay and various curry dishes. The Chinese section carries the different noodles such as BBQ pork and Wantan. International cuisine is featured over 16 culinary stations while the Bar offers a large selection of premium wines, juices and smoothies for the health conscious. Don’t finish without visiting the dessert counter. It was by far the prettiest sight and had an incredible variety. There are some many creatively crafted, well presented and bite-sized desserts that one could enjoy everything even after attempted all the main dishes.

Carpark
There are plenty of carpark lots and most are sheltered. Most of the carpark are not directly linked to the hotel and without lift. Therefore it will be hard for those with big luggage to be carried to the hotel.
Remember to take a complimentary coupon from the concierge every time you drive out of hotel as the parking fee will be expensive.
Shuttle Bus
Remember a good way to go to the shopping region is via the shuttle services provided free by Shangri-la. The shuttle bus departs every hour and you can check with the hotel staff when is the next. The bus loops between the Traders Hotel (near Tanglin Mall), Orchard MRT (at ION) and Takashimaya. Therefore you can shop or eat at central Orchard and return easily via the Shuttle services.
