Singapore River Festival 2010
The Singapore River Festival which returns for a third year, starts from 25 June to 3 July 2010. This year we will have nine nights of great music, Bumboat parades, fashion shows, spectacular performances, live music, aerial shows, non-stop partying and more taking place on its riverbanks every night.
The STB (Singapore Tourist Board) and the Singapore River Festival (SRF) Working Committee aim to develop Singapore River into a must-visit destination for locals and visitors. Singapore River is one of Singapore’s 24-hour nightlife entertainment district with exciting lifestyle and entertainment events both on and along the river. From Boat Quay and Empress Place to Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay, the whole river will come alive with many free events and activities. During this 9 days, Singapore River will be packed with actions and please come down to revel in the fun as almost ALL of the activities will be FREE !!!
Events Highlights
Aerial and Water spectacular – AIR
Venue: Read Bridge, Clarke Quay
When: 25 June to 27 June
Time: 7.30pm and 10pm
Admission: FREE !!!
The core event for Singapore River Festival 2010 is a breathtaking aerial and water spectacle, ‘AIR’ which kick start this year’s festival on 25 June 2010. ‘Air’ in Malay means ‘Water’ and therefore relates to the Singapore River. The show pays tribute to the river as a source of life and tell the story of the Singapore River which takes the audience on a fantastical journey between dreams and reality. Working with steel wire rigging, artists will perform on and above the river surface between Clarke Quay, Central and Read Bridge.
The HiPPO River Pub
Venue: Along Singapore River, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay.
When: 25 and 26 June. 2 and 3 July.
Time: 7.30pm – 10.30pm
Admission: $60. You get 2 drinks and FREE flow of finger food. Unlimited hop on and off at Clarke Quay and Esplanade.
It will be a very nice cool relaxing experience enjoying the HiPPO River Show with live music as it cruises down the picturesque Singapore river with a cup of drink in your hand. Party-goers looking for a new pubbing experience will enjoy the HiPPO River Pub at this Singapore River Festival – a different pubbing experience!
Bumboat Parade
Venue: Along Singapore River of Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Marina Bay
When: 25 June to 3 July
Time: 8pm – 9pm
Admission: FREE !!!
Don’t miss this fun colorful Bumboat Parade, that will bring back glowing nostalgic memories of childhood and growing up along Singapore River in the yesteryears.
Catch the “Chinese Wooden Clog” “Giant Paper Boat” , “Toy Sail Boat” “Newspaper Sampan” and “Horse Racing Calendar” Bumboat Float which will sail past Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Marina Bay. Dancers from FireFlys will perform on 2 bumboats on June 25-27 and July 2-3.
I would like to sit on the “Paper” boat, brings back my childhood memories of putting them down the winding drains filled with rainwater.
Heritage Bumboat Cruize
Venue: Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Fullerton Waterboat House. Embark at the Singapore River Cruise Liang Court Jetty)
When: 25 June to 3 July
Time: 6pm, 7pm, 9pm. (Each ride lasts 45mins).
Admission: $22 for adults and $12 for children
If you are interested to experience what it is like to sit in those bumboats like the ones beneath the bumboat parade, you can also embark on a unique and an interactive bumboat journey. Visitors can sail back in time with fascinating characters, satay seller and a popular courtesan and songstress.
Central – exploring the magic and poetry of water
Venue: Central Mall
When and Time: 8pm on 25 June. 2.30pm, 5pm and 8pm on 26 and 27June, 3 and 4 July.
Admission: FREE !!!
The first-ever performance, Fountain of Fantasy, original water spectacle created exclusively for Singapore River Festival. You will see performers strapped with specially-made water backpacks dressed as fountain sculptures. Watch them come to life and be prepared for a wet and wild fantasy ride at Central! So be prepared and bring extra clothes.
Robertson Quay – Wine and Jazz Festival
Venue: Robertson Walk Courtyard, Robertson Quay
Date and Time: 2 & 3 July 2010, 2pm-10pm
Admission: $25/day or $45 for both days.
The Singapore Wine and Jazz Festival is the Grand Finale of the Singapore River Festival. For only SGD25 each day or SGD45 for both days, you get to sample chardonnay, sauvignon, Riesling, merlot and more, from the best vineyards around the world. Relax yourselves by savoring great wines and groove along to smooth jazz. Wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet with sommeliers from different wine houses, taste their best wines, while enjoying performances by some of the top jazz acts from the region.
Empress Place – KinestAsia
Venue: Empress Place
When: 25 June to 3 July
Admission: FREE !!!
Empress Place presents a multi-genre Asian Music Festival featuring Asian talents from the rock, Indie and traditional music scene. Catch free performances at Timber at The Arts House and ACM Green at The Asian Civilisation Musuem. With activities like street jugglers, stilt walkers, henna tattoo and face painting, it’s definitely a treat for everyone. Headliners include Labjacd (Australia), T- bone (Thailand) and Alarice (New Zealand).
Clarke Quay – La Dolce Vita
Venue: Central Mall
When: 25 June to 3 July
Admission: FREE !!!
La Dolce Vita is all about the sweet life, Clarke Quay brings you a weekend of Food, Fashion and Parties, set to give you the perfect weekend out! Inspire your inner fashionista by catching this season’s trendiest threads from local and international labels at Fashion Rocks Clarke Quay – Clarke Quay’s first ever fashion show at the Read Bridge.
Asian Civilisations Museum
Venue: Central Mall
When: 25 June to 3 July.
Admission: FREE !!!

Pulse – Art by the River
Venue: High Street Centre

Enjoy the art projects installed with motion and touch sensors that allows multi-sensory experience by the River. Discover what happens as you interact with the art piece to create your own special effects.
Festival goers will be spoilt for choice with a breathtaking aerial and water spectacle, an interactive art installation by the river, a wine and jazz festival and many irresistible promotional deals. So come down and have fun!
