Ang Mo Kio West Park
If you live near Ang Mo Kio (AMK), you will be familiar with this park. There are 2 parks in Ang Mo Kio, one in the East and one in the West of Ang Mo Kio. This West Park is the bigger park (21 Hectre in size) and was built on a small hill. It is easily accessible and is situated opposite Ang Mo Kio Town Library along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.
There are 2 things I like best about this park: One is the lily pond and the other is the plaza at the top of the hill.
When you arrived at the AMK Park, you will see a very beautiful pool of lily flowers. I have travelled to China ShuZhou 苏州 to see the famous lily pond but you don’t have to as you can find it here in Singapore and the lily is more and prettier than the one in ShuZhou in my opinion. This landscaped pond near to the entrance of the park is a cozy place for you to sit back and relax. It is also an ideal place for you use as a background to take photos. Remember to take a family photo here 😉
A long staircase (120-step) takes you to a pergola and plaza from where you can view the lush and spreading greenery. From the top of the stairs, you can look down to have a small bird-eye view of the street and library below.
The plaza is a circular place which can lead you to different path where there are benches along the path for you to soak in the quiet atmosphere of the park. Many paths will lead you back to the pond.
On the other side of the park is the secondary forest, with forest plants such as Dillenia and Vitex growing plentiful. Footpaths meandering through the forest and flowing with the terrain will be a challenge for recreational runners. Squirrels, birds, butteries and small creatures can be spotted occasionally in the forest.
I usually combine the trip with a visit to the AMK library, AMK Courts or the 24 hours Drive-through McDonald at the foot of the hill.

Carparks are available at the entrance of the park along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.
By Bus
Services 269, 138 from Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange. Or walk from AMK Bus interchange (around 10mins)
By MRT
Take to Ang Mo Kio station and walk to the AMK Library, park is just opposite.
