Learn A Sport

During this December holiday, your child could pick up a new sport or brush up his/her skills on a particular sport.   Picking up a sport during this time is good as many of the courses or “camps” are short and it acts as a trials for the child.  If he likes it,  he can then continue even after the school holidays.   These programmes are great for exposing your child to various kind of sports which promote healthy living and better motor skills.

1. Chanbara

Many people have not heard about Chanbara and it is growing in popularity in Singapore.  It is a kind of Japanese martial over 30 years old and have evolved into using new materials made out of flexible plastics and the constant refining of swords for combat in the 21st century.

Chanbara is a great aerobic workout for the whole family.  It helps to improve speed, agility and endurance.   For parents, you can burn off some extra calories at the same time!   In this workout,  you will practice samurai sword moves and wielding techniques.  Don’t worry about injury or pain of being hit as you will be using the “ActionFlex” special soft foam padded sword.   You will have a family of fun and great workout!   Learn the way the Samurai move and fighting with their swords.  Think of the movie “The Last Samurai” by Tom Cruise and you know what you may be learning.

When: 3 and 4 Dec  (2 Days)

2. Shinju-Kai Aikido and Chanbara

For:  Child (Age 9 –12)

If Chanbara alone is not enough, how about combining with Aikido? One type of self-defense is with Sword and the other is mostly free-hand.  A nice combination and double the fun!

The self-defense course encourage teamwork and kids do not only learn how to fight or defense.  They also learn the Aikido’s philosophy of harmony and self-defense.   They will learn simple Aikido breakfalls and movements while they also learn the basic foundation steps and competition rules of Chanbara.

The nice part of this course is that they get to use everyday objects in defense with practical tips on how to react when attacked.  An essential life-skill.

3. Rhythmic Fitness

For: Child.  (Age 9 – 12)

Develop your child movement coordination, rhythm sense, muscle control and balancing skills with this fun group exercise workshop.  With the aid of music, the workouts are aimed at developing fitness with combination of bodyweight exercises, dance and kickboxing moves that kids will enjoy!

4.  Cha Cha For Family

For: Whole Family.  (Child must aged 6 or older)

Cha Cha for whole family?  Sounds quite a new interesting idea to bond with family members while dancing!  You will experience the Ballroom Latin Cha Cha which is lively and even cheeky.   It is characterized by 2 slow steps then 3 fast chases. 

For those who have not been working out and doing sports for a while, this programme is a good start to turn on the engine.   It is perfect for beginners and the whole family to pick up Cha Cha with its lively music,  exciting rhythm and quick and sharp basic movements.

5. Cha Cha For Children

For:  Child (Age 6 –12)

If your child have an interest in Cha Cha or wanting to continue further after finishing the above activity “Cha Cha for Family”, you may want to consider this course.  

This course encourage the kids to develop good body posture, confidence as well as be more open, responsive and supportive through dance.   It open up the kids to explore this enduring and much enjoyed genre of dance.

6. Skating

For:  Child (Age 3–12)

Do your child knows how to skate?  Skating is fun and develop key motor skills.  Learn from the experts during this December school Holiday which is carefully researched and designed to help your child learn how to skate gracefully in less than a week!

There are 3 types of camps available:

a.  4 Days Deluxe CHRISTMAS or Fun on Wheels FULL DAY CAMP 9am to 5pm.   $369 PER CHILD (option to top up $30 for a Christmas Skate Camp)

b.  2 Days FULL DAY CAMP 9am to 5pm with option to top up $30 for Christmas Skate Camp.  $199 PER CHILD.

c.  2 Days or 4 Days HALF DAY 9am to 12pm. $99 PER CHILD (2 HD) or $199 PER CHILD (4Half Days)

The camp includes enrichment activities such as music, acting, painting, roller-sports, games, mathematics and science. Each child receive individual attention and progresses at their own pace so it is almost tailored individually!

7. Kids Jive

For:  Child (Age 6 –12)

If your child have an interest in Latin Jive or want to learn a new genre of dance, why not enroll him/her to this course.  They will learn to dance on the ball of the foot with their knees flexed.
