Almost all the kids love to go through tunnels and climbing up giant playground. As Singapore is a HOT tropical country, it could be quite uncomfortable to play under the torching sun and sweating profusely. I know my kids just love to climb through long tunnel, navigating through different possible channels and tackling some of the mini obstacles along the way. And they love it better if it is all air-conditioned and hygienic. I have been to this eXplorerKid at the Downtown East a couples of time and have signed up as members for both of my kids a year ago since the first visit. They get cheaper entrance rate as a member. My younger kid love it but as now my elder kids is getting older, he is not so eager as his younger brother anymore. We can easily spent 2 hours in this gigantic playground, letting our kids run about knowing that they will be safe and we parents get some well deserved rests.

General Description
One thing I like is that they are safe and take health issues seriously. Before you are allowed to enter, you have to take your temperature and sanitize your hands with the chemicals provided. This precaution is valuable in the light of current situation of H1N5 and Hand-Foot-And-Mouth diseases. All the floorings, walls and structures are child-proof with thick layer of cushion to prevent injury from falls and knocks. So you can let your children roam freely without the worry that they will get hurt or injury.
The large playground occupies 8,200 square foot of retail space at E!Hub in Downtown East, Pasir Ris. The indoor playground consists of 20 fun play elements. The main attraction is of course the gigantic ant-tunnel like mega-structure where most children will dash to when they see it. It is like a maze and children are like little ants following another children in front of them navigating through the tunnels, slides and other obstacles. Definitely a good way to spent their time and building up some of their coordination abilities. Although the air-con is on full blast, my kids are still sweating from the chasing and climbing activities. Yes, it is cold for parents who are not getting much exercise in there, so bring along your jackets.
The new Explorer Kids has added many other attractions such as the 3m high rock-climbing wall, a lighted ball pool (toddlers and younger kids will love to soak in it and throwing balls at each others), a multimedia platform, internet kiosks and cafe.
A warning: it is not a single-entrance fees that cover all fun in the playground. You need to pay separately for some of the activities such as “tree-top” obstacle course which is 2m off the ground for a price of $5.50 per circuit and you need to 1.2m tall. There is still the old air-powered ball-throwing guns (cannons) that kids can shoot at each others and you also need to pay. Additionally, there is also a 2,000 sq feet skating ring for the whole family. Parents could also relieve their aching muscles at the paying massage chairs.
My children had fun and were overwhelmed during our last visit. To be honest, those extra-paying activities are not needed. Just pay the normal entrance fee and they will simple have fun with the standard activities. If you do plan to come back again to this place, my advice is to become a member at the very first visit to enjoy the huge savings you will get. Remember too, to bring and wear your own socks as you will need them and they will cost you extras if you dun have them.
For cheaper alternatives, try the one at Toa Payoh Safra.
