During this weekend, there are three interesting competition and events of this Singapore Food Festival that I would like to highlight:
1. Family’s Cantonese Recipe Cooking Competition
If you are one of those families that is able to cook Cantonese food, you stand a chance to win great prizes and having fun working as team.
During this year’s Cantonese Recipe Cooking Competition, you and your family members can whip up any Cantonese dish (of your choice) in the given 45mins to impress the chef judges! The winning family can win up to the 1st prize of $1000 worth of Cash and Hampers!
For the rest of us who are not taking part, we can also experience and enjoy the fun-filled, adrenaline pumping cooking competition and see which family will be crowned as the King of Family Recipe Cooking Competition in this year’s Singapore Food Festival 2010.

2. Singapore’s LONGEST ‘Chee Cheong Fun’ Record
Personally, I have never seen any “Chee Cheong Fun” (see picture of how it looks like) that is longer than a normal plate. However, this Sunday, we will witness the longest “Chee Cheong Fun” ever made in Singapore. There will be 150 Chefs from Society of Chinese Cuisine Chefs (Singapore) gather at Chinatown to challenge this amazing feat for charity! They are aiming to make a 80m long “Chee Cheong Fun” that will be recorded in the Singapore Book of Records! The completed Chee Cheong Fun will be pan-fried immediately on site to be sold at a nominal price to the public in efforts to raise funds for charity.

3. Cantonese Cuisine Food Expo

Cai Guo-Qiang: Head On

Cai Guo-Qiang is a renowned China artist who was the Director of Visual and Special Effects for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Cai Guo-Qiang will exhibit three of his groundbreaking works—renown installation Head On which consists of 99 life-sized wolf , Illusion II a two-channel video installation that also documents the explosive project of the same title; and Vortex, a gunpowder drawing depicting hundreds of thousands of wolves chasing one another in a circular motion.

Sink Or Swim! A Parent’s Guide To Surviving Primary School
For: Parents with children aged 4-7
This seminar is targeted at parents of children aged 4 – 7 years old. Join us for an informative afternoon to find out how you can survive Parenting 101. A seminar organised by Lorna Whiston Schools for a good cause. All proceeds from the seminar as well as from the auction of children’s art pieces will go to the Life Community Service Society for children from low-income and at-risk families.
Bring along your child to this event! They have organized a slew of activities that includes fun phonics and reading activities, script writing and acting classes in Mandarin to keep the young ones occupied.
