Baby Loves Disco

For: Family with Children  Thumbs-upEditor’s Choice

image This is the only Disco party in Singapore especially cater for baby!  Baby Loves Disco is an afternoon dance party bring you back to the disco tunes from the 70s & 80s.  The launch party of Baby Loves Disco Singapore which is at DXO is a very hip and happening nightclub. Not only will this be a great afternoon out with the whole family, but it will also be an excellent way to socialize and meet other families who love to have fun.

The event focuses on 6months to 7years, but the older siblings will still enjoy the party. The music is turned down to toddler-friendly levels so as not to burst any ear drums and the lights are a little brighter than a regular club for safety reasons. There will be a ‘chill-out’ area with games and toys if the kids want some ‘down time’ as well as a spread of healthy snacks and a free-flow of fruit juice and soft drinks.

Adults will not be allowed in without a child, although Grandparents, friends and nannies are all welcome.  So mums and dads will love the music just as much as the kids so everyone can get up and groove!

William Farquhar Exhibition

For: Knowing more about Singapore

imageMany do not know who is the Singapore’s First Resident and Commandant including myself.   Although it is widely acknowledged that Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles founded Singapore, it was the Scotsman William Farquhar who built and nurtured the early settlement. Not many know about the contributions of our First Resident and Commandant (1819-1823), William Farquhar. Find out how Farquhar succeeded in building the young settlement into a thriving port in the 58 months he spent on the island. This exhibition presents for the first time, rare pictures and artifacts generously loaned by Farquhar’s descendants specially for this exhibition. Together with the collections from the National Library of Singapore and various agencies, this exhibition chronicles the life and career of this early Singapore pioneer and provides an insight into the often-untold contributions of William Farquhar in the development of early Singapore. This exhibition is co-organised by the National Library Singapore and the Singapore Heritage Society.

Gain insights into how William Farquhar, Singapore’s first resident and commandant, nurtured a young settlement into a thriving port through rare pictures and artifacts loaned by his descendants for this exhibition.
